Kathleen T. Whitehead

Kathleen T. Whitehead is an  elder law attorney and Texas probate lawyer in San Antonio. Ms. Whitehead entered private practice in 1992. She received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Lewis and Clark College, Northwestern School of Law, in Portland, Oregon, in 1985. She was licensed to practice law in Texas in May of 1990 and has been a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys since 1994. Prior to opening her practice, Ms. Whitehead worked with seniors, first at Lutheran Social Services in Spokane, Washington, then at Morningside Ministries in San Antonio, Texas. At Morningside, Ms. Whitehead obtained her Nursing Home Administrator’s license (currently on inactive status).
Ms. Whitehead often speaks on elder law topics to both professional groups and lay people. Her speaking engagements have included the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Texas Bar Association, San Antonio Young Lawyer’s Association, San Antonio Bar Association Seminars, and seminars for nursing home administrators and nurses. She addresses topics such as decision making standards in guardianships; how to avoid a guardianship; probate versus trusts; estate planning basics; and planning for long-term care.

Shekinah  Hammonds Davis

Managing Attorney

Shekinah, an avid collector of cow print memorabilia, is a dedicated Attorney who enjoys advocating for others. She received her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science at Texas Lutheran University in 2005 and her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s School of Law in 2011. She holds membership with the San Antonio Bar Foundation, San Antonio Black Lawyers Association and National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys as well as the Texas Bar Association with certification as Attorney ad Litem / Guardian ad Litem. Her experience and certifications have made her an asset to the practice. Shekinah interned with the 25th Judicial District Attorney’s Office with Former District Attorney, Honorable Judge W.C. Kuykendall in Guadalupe County; worked as Academic Scholar and Constitutional Law Research Assistant for Former Dean Bill Piatt; interned with Honorable Chief U.S. District Judge Fred Biery, United States District Court in Western District of Texas; served as Law Clerk with Office of the Texas Attorney General – Child Support Division; worked as Senior Legal Assistant for Ms. Whitehead from 2006 – 2008; Shekinah currently specializes in guardianships, probates, heirships, independent and dependent administrations, community administrations, real estate, and estate planning. She volunteers in low-income community care centers and nursing homes and gives lectures for adult education classes within the Northeast Independent School District and Alzheimer’s Association. An accomplished vocalist, pianist, and song writer – Shekinah has lent a helping hand around the world through her travels with international mission teams to Ghana, West-Africa and the Philippines. In January 2021 Shekinah accepted a management role as managing attorney of Whitehead and Hammonds Law PLLC.
